The off-price retailer will lease half of the building that closed in 2017 in River City Marketplace.
Burlington Stores Inc. will lease about half of the closed Gander Mountain store in River City Marketplace, permits show.
The city issued a permit Friday for Able Construction Inc. to build-out almost 40,000 square feet of space at a cost of $2.47 million for the off-price retailer.
Burlington operates three Jacksonville stores in Mandarin, near Argyle in Southwest Jacksonville and in the Regency area.
Gander Mountain occupied 81,537 square feet of space, along with 19,099 square feet of outdoor sales space, at 13075 City Square Drive.
The building was constructed in 2007 on almost 7.6 acres.
The Gander Mountain chain closed many of its stores in 2017 after it was purchased by Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis.
In October, Bozard Ford Co. bought the former Gander Mountain property in St. Augustine to develop a Bozard Lincoln dealership.
The company paid $5.6 million for the 7.5-acre property at 550 Outlet Mall Blvd., acquiring it from U.S. Bank as the trustee. Bozard Land LLC owns 10 acres next door at 540 Outlet Mall Blvd. where Bozard Ford Lincoln now operates.
Lemonis now operates about 70 Gander Outdoors or Gander RV locations in 19 states.
