The city issued a permit April 16 for the $1.42 million construction of the new Bearded Pig BBQ restaurant in San Marco.

Course Contracting LLC will build the 5,417-square-foot building at 1808 Kings Ave. EnVision Design + Engineering LLC is the civil engineer.

A permit was issued Oct. 4 to demolish a gas station that was on the site.

Kingpig LLC, led by Charles Munsey III, bought the 0.71-acre property Oct. 29 for $750,000 from Schmidt Development LLC. Michael Schmidt and Chad Munsey own The Bearded Pig.

The Bearded Pig announced in November it had outgrown its space at 1224 Kings Ave. and that construction had begun 0.3 miles south at the new address.

It said it would open the new location in late spring 2020 and remain operating at its existing site until then.

The Bearded Pig said it was working with Doherty Sommers Engineers Architects “to design a restaurant that reflects our original feel and embraces what people have come to love about The Bearded Pig while addressing some operational issues and allowing for growth.”

The Bearded Pig said it will retain its space at 1224 Kings Ave. for a future project.
