JaxPort leadership joined the Florida Association of Security Companies and River City Security Services on Tuesday to honor Security Supervisor Stephen Stone with the 2013 John M. Russi Award.

The statewide award, which has been given only five times in the past eight years, recognizes a Florida licensed security professional who has performed in an exemplary manner, displaying both valor and dedication to the industry.

Stone, a decorated Army veteran with five Army Commendation Medals, among other honors, is employed by River City Security and contracted by JaxPort for security operations at the cruise terminal.

UNF radio issued FCC permit

The Federal Communications Commission issued a permit to the University of North Florida to install a low-power FM transmitter that will boost Spinnaker Radio, the school’s student-operated radio station. The station will transmit at 95.5 FM with a 100-watt signal that should reach a radius of more than three miles from the campus station. Started in 1993, Spinnaker Radio serves the campus through its indie college rock music format and produces specialty shows. It has been one of five North American finalists for College Music Journal’s best student-run, online-only radio stations the past three years. The station streams on spinnakerradio.com.

Scott appoints Ken Wilson to Early Learning Coalition

Gov. Rick Scott appointed Ken Wilson to the Early Learning Coalition of Duval County. Wilson is group vice president of Gate Petroleum Co., president of GL National Inc. and former chairman of the Jacksonville Children’s Commission. His term will end April 30, 2016. The coalition was created by state law to provide financial assistance for school-readiness child care. It is required to build partnerships to coordinate services for children from birth through kindergarten.

James Winegeart named to Board of Pilot Commissioner

Scott also appointed James Winegeart to the state Board of Pilot Commissioners. Winegeart is a harbor pilot with the St. Johns Bar Pilots Association and serves a term that ends Oct. 31, 2017. The board is responsible for licensing and regulating harbor pilots and considers applications and disciplinary cases.

Greg Gerlach joins FordHarrison

FordHarrison, a national labor and employment law firm, has hired Greg Gerlach at its Jacksonville office. Gerlach is a Florida and Texas labor relations and employment attorney with more than 20 years of experience representing employers.

Doug Filaroski, Missy Shaffer join Clockwork Marketing

Clockwork Marketing Services has added Doug Filaroski and Missy Shaffer to its staff. Filaroski is a former journalist who also worked in the corporate communications industry before joining as an account executive. Shaffer is a former account executive and media buyer with experience in marketing, advertising and public relations who joins as a marketing coordinator.

Job fair Tuesday at Prime Osborn Convention Center

Jobnewsjax.com and several businesses will partner with CareerSource Northeast Florida to host a job fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Phlip Rachels joins CBRE as senior vice president

Philip Rachels has joined CBRE as senior vice president for the company’s structured debt finance group. Rachels has been active in commercial real estate since 1996. His experience encompasses all property types and an array of financial and ownership structures. He arrives from Capital Advisors Inc. in Jacksonville, where he served as a vice president since 2010.
