Riverside Lodging paid $2.4 million for the site in an acquisition from Parkview Plaza Partners LLC, led by Hallmark Partners Inc.

The sale closed Sept. 20. The St. Johns River Water Management District issued a permit for the six-story, 135-room hotel on 1.8 acres along Oak Street at Forest and Magnolia streets. The city is reviewing site plans for the 107,055-square-foot project.

Notes:

• The Ambassador Hotel Downtown is starting preparations toward redevelopment. Contractor SMC Construction Southeast LLC of Orlando applied for a permit to start interior nonstructural demolition at a cost of $300,000. Axis Hotels LLC wants to renovate the six-story hotel at 420 Julia St. for a national brand and build apartments next door.

Aloft Jacksonville Airport hotel will be renovated now that the city issued a permit to Frazee Construction of Orlando for the $1.3 million project. The five-story, 136-room hotel was built in 2009 at 751 Skymarks Drive.
