CSX appoints Bezar as chief strategy officer

The 25-year veteran of the logistics industry will support “intensified focus on growth.”

CSX Corp. announced Tuesday it appointed Farrukh Bezar to the new position of senior vice president and chief strategy officer effective May 29.

He will report to CSX President and CEO Jim Foote.

Bezar will lead the development of strategic initiatives “that support CSX’s intensified focus on growth and adding value for its customers and shareholders.”

CSX said Bezar joins CSX with more than 25 years of strategic leadership experience in the transportation and logistics industry.

“Farrukh’s tremendous depth of experience will enable us to accelerate the development and execution of initiatives that address our customers’ transportation needs and drive profitable, sustained growth for our organization,” Foote said.

He called Bezar “a highly skilled leader who further strengthens CSX’s talented management team as we strive to solidify our position as the best run railroad in North America.”

Bezar most recently was founder and managing partner of the Lynwood Partners transportation and logistics advisory firm. Before that, he served in senior transportation and logistics leadership roles at Clarendon, Booz Allen Hamilton and A.T. Kearney.

He previously held sales and marketing positions at the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. and was a financial analyst with Chase Manhattan Bank.

Bezar received a bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Northwestern University and an MBA in

Management, Marketing and Transportation from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
