Development Notes: Hillwood mortgage for Amazon; Beaver Street Fisheries freezer space

The internet commerce giant is developing a sortation center at Cecil Commerce Center.

Veritex Community Bank in Dallas issued a $33.9 million mortgage Feb. 2 to AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center master developer Hillwood for the structure it will develop for an Amazon.com Inc. sortation center.

The city sold 37.52 acres to Hillwood on Jan. 29 for $386,381.

Hillwood will develop the estimated more than $40 million, 278,237-square-foot facility at 13450 Waterworks St. Hillwood bought the land through Waterworks BLDG F-1 LLC.

Beaver Street Fisheries freezer space

Beaver Street Fisheries Inc. intends to convert 12,000 square feet of refrigerated warehouse space to freezer space at 1741 W. Beaver St.

The city is reviewing a permit application for the $3.5 million project.

Stellar Group Inc. is the contractor. Beaver Street CFO Jeff Edwards said the project is an expansion of its seafood packaging operations.

It is converting an older and smaller freezer to production space.
