Ezell firm offers flat-fee rates

To better serve clients in today’s economy, newly opened Ezell Law Firm is offering a flat-fee billing method. The new billing method breaks from the standard billable-hour model that many law firms across the country have used for decades.

“My clients know they can call me at any time and ask the questions they need to because I am not charging them for every minute of our conversation,” said Brenda Ezell, founder and owner of the Ezell Law Firm, which opened in March. “Especially in today’s tough financial times, clients need someone they can depend on who is sensitive to how current economic conditions are impacting both their time and their money.”

Ezell said the pure flat-fee billing model is being used only at a few law firms across the country, and while many firms are claiming to offer fixed fees, they are actually using a hybrid of hourly and fixed fees.

Ezell’s firm is offering the new billing method in part as a response to the current economy and in part because it is more beneficial to clients. She said it also removes the administrative burden of timekeeping. Most of Ezell Law Firm’s clients work in the commercial real estate industry or the corporate and business sectors, which are the sectors primarily impacted by the current economy.

Ezell has experience with clients of all sizes and types. Prior to founding the firm, Ezell worked for the City of Jacksonville as well as for private law practices including Rogers Towers and Edwards Cohen.

“I have worked with clients in many different types of transactions and there are very few who don’t want your time and attention without worrying about paying for every minute that passes,” Ezell said. “With a flat-fee billing model, clients know the fee schedule upfront, eliminating any element of surprise or dissatisfaction.”

Founded by Brenda Ezell in 2009, Ezell Law Firm provides legal representation in all areas of commercial real estate, including purchase and sale, leasing, lending, title insurance, easements and servitudes, covenants and restrictions, homeowners and condominium association law as well as representation in matters involving governmental regulation of land development.
