It's official, three days after the election.

Jay Fant beat Paul Renner in the Republican primary for House District 15 by two votes after a recount. He will face two write-in candidates in November. The seat is being vacated by state Rep. Daniel Davis, who is now president and CEO of JAX Chamber.

Fant had 5,962 votes compared to Renner's 5,960.

In the School Board District 2 recount, Sam Hall edged out Theresa Graham by four votes: 2,449 to 2,445. On election night, Hall was leading by three votes. He will face Scott Shine in the runoff in November.

In a statement, Renner congratulated Fant "on winning a hard-fought campaign" and wished him success in the Legislature.

He said he will continue to look for opportunities to serve the community.

" I especially want to thank the hundreds of supporters who worked tirelessly on behalf of our campaign," Renner's statement continued. "They can all take pride in their efforts, and I look forward to serving with them in the future to strengthen our community.”
