The Florida Bar’s board will have its first-ever Jacksonville meeting today and they’ll get a welcome from top officials.

Mayor John Delaney and Jacksonville Bar Association President Tom Beverly will be first on the agenda this morning at the Adam’s Mark. Almost all 52 Bar board members have registered for the all-day meeting.

“We’re glad to be here,” said Bar President Terry Russell of Fort Lauderdale. “The Bar has had outstanding support from its Jacksonville members.”

The board members who arrived Thursday for committee meetings were feted last night with a reception at the Bedell firm and a boat ride on the St. Johns River to a dinner at past Bar President Howard Coker’s home.

The meeting starts at 9 this morning and Delaney and Beverly are to speak at 9:10 and 9:20, respectively.

The full agenda means the meeting will last until late afternoon, said Bar Communications Director Francine Walker.
