From the JBA: Time to turn our thoughts to joy

Our legal community has much to celebrate as we begin to return to business as usual.

As we enter December, my thoughts turn to joy for our local legal community.

The Jacksonville Bar Association has done much in the past year. We pivoted to hybrid programs that offer our members the option of in-person or virtual participation; and we had congregational events like happy hours, dog park days and sports nights with baseball and hockey the way we did before COVID-19.

We partnered with the city of Jacksonville to help those in need with rent and mortgage assistance. Our annual Senior Holiday Project to bring some holiday cheer to many older adults who otherwise might not have had any cheer continued through the pandemic with this year’s gifts scheduled for home delivery Dec. 16 with assistance from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

All of these accomplishments are because of you, our members. You continue to support the Bar as we continue to return to business as before the restrictions caused by COVID-19.

We are particularly pleased that our annual Bench and Bar Holiday Party returns this year after the hiatus forced last year by the coronavirus health precautions.

We will gather at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Garden Club of Jacksonville on Riverside Avenue to celebrate another outstanding year for the attorneys and judges in the association.

We hope you will join us. Register at
