Because of the terrorist attacks Tuesday in New York City and Washington, D.C., the Berkman Plaza topping off ceremony scheduled for Thursday was postponed indefinitely. As a result of interest in the property, the number of leases and sales of the apartments and townhouses in the project has been increasing constantly, according to spokesperson Jeanne Ward. Potential tenants include locals and people from out-of-town, encompassing a wide variety of professions, Ward said. The complex will offer retail shopping and upscale amenities to the residents of the 198 rental units and 20 riverfront townhomes. The first residents are scheduled to occupy the complex in December.
