The founding member of Brennan, Manna & Diamond’s Jacksonville office is shifting gears after 11 years at the helm, moving to the local Gunster office.

Michal Freed, a former Jacksonville Bar Association president, began with the firm last week.

“It was a unique opportunity to go to a much larger platform,” he said Friday. “I had done as much as I could do on the platform I was at.”

He’ll be practicing in complex business and construction litigation for Gunster and serve as outside counsel for several local and regional companies. He said the opportunity to represent Fortune 500 companies on the state and national level was something he’d wanted to do and, with Gunster, he could.

He said the opportunity arose recently and that although it was a somewhat difficult decision to leave the firm he’s been with so long, he did so after seeing Gunster’s technology and resources.

He received his J.D. from Georgetown University in 1993 and is licensed to practice in Florida, Maryland and Washington, D.C. He’s been in Jacksonville since 1995.
