After a September that had Mayor Alvin Brown outraising him for the first time since he entered the race in June, Lenny Curry came back with a stronger October.
The Republican challenger to Brown raised $153,645 for the month, more than doubling the $63,153 he collected in September. Brown raised $29,375 for October, down from his $101,750 in September.
“We had obviously an outstanding month and a very strong summer,” Curry said Monday. “Now that we have got through Tuesday (the Nov. 4 elections) … expect to see the same intensity and enthusiasm in the months ahead.”
Of Curry’s October totals, $124,250 came through his “Together for a Greater Jacksonville” state committee, while $29,395 was collected through his local account.
The largest support came on the last day of the month through a $50,000 donation from The Gary R. Chartrand Trust and a $25,000 donation from Petro Services Inc. Chartrand also personally gave Curry $25,000 in June.
October also saw three $10,000 donations from Petway Real Estate LLC, Cross Creek Farm LLC and The Stellar Group.
Brown’s “Taking Jacksonville to the Next Level” committee has collected $21,500 in October. Locally, he raised $7,875 for the month, according to reports.
Brown still leads in the overall fundraising with more than $1.6 million compared to Curry’s just over $1.2 million.
City Council member Bill Bishop, another Republican in the mayoral race, collected $5,550 in local contributions for the month. He has just over $60,000 in total donations.
