As the new decade starts, the Daily Record has asked local officials what they expect or would like to see in 2010.

“I hope 2010 brings a resurgent economy, many new prospects, and many thousands of jobs from existing and new companies in the First Coast.”

— Jerry Mallot, executive vice president Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce

“In 2010, I would like to see continued success as the city works toward increased economic development and public safety, so that Jacksonville residents will have more job opportunities and feel more secure in their homes and businesses. I also wish for continued progress with downtown investments that are increasing river access for citizens, laying the foundation for a revitalized downtown district and helping to safeguard the health of our beautiful St. Johns River.”

— Mayor John Peyton
