The closed Golden Corral restaurant in Mandarin is coming down.
Realco Recycling Co. Inc. is demolishing and removing the structure at 11470 San Jose Blvd. for construction of a gas station, convenience store and an attached restaurant.
The city issued a permit Nov. 22 for Realco Recycling to take down the 11,624-square-foot building at the 3.1-acre site. The job cost is shown as $2,400.
It will be replaced with the Daybreak Market, plans show.
The city is reviewing plans for construction of a 7,157-square-foot 76 brand gas station, Daybreak Market convenience store and car wash.
An attached drive-thru restaurant is available for tenant lease.
Daybreak Markets are new to the area. Several others are in review.
Daybreak Market’s principal address is in Boca Raton and its mailing address is in Banning, California. Daybreak Market & Fuel LLC is the operator.
Plaza Street Partners of Prairie Village, Kansas, is the developer. Plaza Street Fund 115 LLC paid $2.6 million for the Mandarin site in November 2020.
Lickel Architecture of Kansas City, Missouri, is the architect. Michael E. Neikirk of Mount Carmel, Illinois, is the civil engineer.
Franklin Street is representing the site for lease to a 2,300-square-foot restaurant and drive-thru at the end of the Daybreak Market convenience store.
