The city issued a permit Oct. 21 for Dav-Lin Interior Contractors to build-out space for Maximus Inc. at One Imeson at a construction cost of $1.15 million.

Maximus, a Reston, Virginia-based government contractor, wants to expand its third-floor operations at 1 Imeson Park Blvd. in North Jacksonville by adding 53,800 square feet of space.

That would boost Maximus to almost 83,000 square feet of space there.

Plans show about 500 workstations, 12 offices, and training and conference rooms.

Connie Turner Interiors is the interior designer and space planner. Real Capital Solutions of Louisville, Colorado, owns the property through RCS – Imeson LLC.

One Imeson Center is an almost 1.7 million-square-foot office-warehouse developed in 1974 as a Sears catalog distribution center.

The office portion has a first story, a mezzanine and another floor.

In May 2018, Maximus confirmed it would open a call center at One Imeson that could employ up to 200 people. The city issued a permit then for Dav-Lin to build-out 29,153 square feet of space on the third floor at a cost of $365,195.

Lisa Miles, senior vice president of investor relations and corporate communications, said then that the job count will depend on the volume of calls.

Miles said in May 2018 the Jacksonville location will help Maximus continue its work to support the U.S. Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid.

The job listings then showed Maximus would operate a call center and customer contact center for its Federal Services functions, one of its three areas of focus.

Miles said then that FSA is the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation.

Maximus, a public company founded in 1975, describes itself as a leading operator of government health and human services programs in the United States.

Starting in 2006, it narrowed its focus on business process services primarily in the health services and the human services markets.

Its annual report explains it is organized and managed based on the services it provides: health services, U.S. federal services and human services.

As of Sept. 30, 2019, it had about 29,600 employees worldwide. It says it now has more than 30,000 workers.

It reported annual revenue of almost $2.9 billion in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, up from almost $2.4 billion the previous year.

Maximus also connected with One Imeson in November 2018 when the company bought General Dynamics Information Technology’s citizen engagement centers business.

It integrated the business into its U.S. Federal Services segment and said the purchase would strengthen its position in the administration of federal government programs.

In November 2017, the city approved a permit for Dav-Lin to build-out 50,462 square feet of space at One Imeson for General Dynamics Information Technology to serve U.S. Census operations.
