The city issued a permit Feb. 10 for Thomas Sign and Awning Co. of Clearwater to replace the sign cabinet to call it HCA Florida Memorial Hospital.

The permit, at a job cost of $7,994, shows the names as “HCA Florida Memorial Hospital Main Entrance, Outpatient Center, Women’s Center.”

Memorial Healthcare Group Inc. is the property owner.

It is part of HCA Healthcare Inc., based in Nashville, Tennessee.

Memorial Hospital spokesperson Odette Struys said Feb. 25 that more sign permits are coming.

“Over the next few months we will be filing for permits when needed as HCA Healthcare links all hospitals under the HCA Florida Healthcare name,” she said.

The city issued a permit Feb. 15 for “HCA Florida Mandarin Emergency” at the stand-alone emergency department at 10910 San Jose Blvd. Thomas Sign & Awning is the contractor for the $4,300 project.

Struys confirmed Orange Park Medical Center also will have its name updated with HCA Florida.

In May 2021, HCA announced that Florida hospitals and health are facilities owned and operated by HCA Healthcare Inc. will adopt the HCA Florida Healthcare brand beginning in September through mid-2022.

“Plans began earlier this year to create a state level brand to reflect the unity of the state’s extensive network of specialists and dedicated healthcare experts by the third quarter of 2022,” the release said.

It said all HCA Healthcare-owned hospitals, free-standing emergency rooms and physician practices in Tallahassee and the organization’s East and West Florida divisions would adopt the new brand starting in September 2021.

“The remaining facilities, including those in the Panhandle, Jacksonville, Orlando and North Central Florida, will be updated in 2022,” it said.

It said the statewide transformation will further unite 49 hospital campuses, more than 350 care sites, nearly 11,000 active and affiliated physicians and more than 77,000 colleagues across Florida.

In Northeast Florida, HCA Healthcare owns Orange Park Medical Center and Memorial Hospital.

As of Dec. 31, 2021, HCA Healthcare operated 182 hospitals and about 2,200 ambulatory sites of care, including surgery centers, free-standing emergency rooms, urgent care centers and physician clinics, in 20 states and the United Kingdom.
