Blossoming flowers and shrinking violets were the pick of the evening at the opening reception for the “Neobotanica “ exhibition last week at the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art. Four contemporary artists from around the country — David Collins, David Geiser, Timothy McDowell and Barbara Rogers — displayed both vibrant tones and muted hues of varying floral-themed compositions. Mediums included oil, acrylic and multi-layered encaustic paintings (raw pigments suspended in beeswax). The exhibition runs through Jan. 18.
