Office Depot closing Mandarin store in November

The company is restructuring its operations.

Office Depot will close its Mandarin Landing store Nov. 14, a company spokesperson said Oct. 9.

Shera Bishop, senior communications specialist for the Boca Raton-based company, said a closing sale began Sept. 17.

The store occupies 24,650 square feet at 10601 San Jose Blvd., No. 200, in the shopping center anchored by Whole Foods Market. The location is north of Interstate 295.

“Office Depot is continuously evaluating and optimizing its retail footprint,” Bishop said by email.

Office Depot is a subsidiary of The ODP Corp., which includes OfficeMax, CompuCom and Grand&Toy, as well as others.

Bishop said there are nearby Office Depot and OfficeMax stores, including an Office Depot at 8653 Baymeadows Road. The store sells office furniture, supplies and services.

The company also sells online at officedepot.com. It sells business services, products and digital workplace technology to small, medium and enterprise businesses and to consumers.

Jacksonville-based Regency Centers Corp. owns Mandarin Landing, A property brochure shows the Office Depot space will be available soon.

In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing May 13, Office Depot Inc., which later became ODP Corp., announced a restructuring plan that includes closing stores and closing or consolidating distribution facilities and laying off about 13,100 employees by the end of 2023.

“The Company is still evaluating the number of potential retail store and distribution facility closures, as well as the timing of any such closures,” said the fling.

It operates 12 Office Depot and OfficeMax stores in Northeast Florida. Bishop did not say any other area locations will be closed.
