Randy Mancuso is a loan officer for First Guaranty Bank and Trust Company of Jacksonville. He has been with the company since November 2003 and works at the main office on King Street.

What do you do?

“I’m a commercial lender. I work with small businesses and help them with financing commercial real estate and equipment.”

How did you get your start in banking?

“I graduated from LSU in finance in 1990 and was hired by First Union to work in Jacksonville in the early 1990s. I went through a corporate associate program and worked for them in North Carolina, and then I moved to Jacksonville and was an analyst. From there I was able to get my start in commercial lending.”

What did you do prior to this job?

“I was with General Electric for six years prior to working for First Guaranty. I worked with a small business finance group at GE Capital in Louisiana and we did small business finance loans.”

How long has the bank been open?

“First Guaranty Bank was formed in 1947. One unique thing about the bank is that it’s family owned and operated. The Fant family established the bank and the third generation is managing it now.”

How many locations does the bank have?

“Seven.”

All local?

“Yes. The main office is on King Street. There are also offices in Argyle on Youngerman Circle, Mandarin on San Jose Boulevard, Ortega, Baymeadows, Riverside Avenue and in St. Vincent’s Hospital. We’re always looking to grow.”

Is there anything your bank specializes in?

“Our specialty really is commercial real estate. That is one thing that we really do a good job with and we have a really solid core group of lenders here that are very familiar with the real estate values and the real estate lending needs in the community. The second thing I think we specialize in is being able to provide what we call ‘Legendary Service.’ It’s more of a hands-on approach with our customers, and being a locally owned and operated bank under the same name for 57 years, we’ve developed some really long-term customer relationships here at the bank.”

What do you like best about your job?

“We have the ability to really do some good for people. We thoroughly enjoy our customers, and the number one thing that I enjoy is my customers.”

Do you belong to any organizations?

“I recently joined the Riverside Rotary Club and the Jacksonville Navy League. I’m also a board member of the Chamber’s Downtown Council.”

What are your future goals?

“I’d like to continue to develop my business and build new customer relationships here in Jacksonville. I’d like to become more of a leader in First Guaranty Bank. Having only been here a year, I see a tremendous amount of opportunity to contribute with this company. It’s been so successful and the Fants and the people that have worked here for so long have given us a great foundation from which to continue to grow and develop. I’m looking forward to being a part of that.”
