Prudential rededicates its 'rock'

After major renovations to the old Prudential I Building, now known as 841 Prudential Drive, a large reception was held in its honor last month.

Over 200 people — including numerous commercial real estate agents — attended the event to see the renovations and witness the rededication of the Prudential rock to E. William Nash Jr., who spent 38 years of his life with the company, his final eight years as Prudential’s south central president, and to the City of Jacksonville.

In 1955, a 2.5 ton piece of the Gibraltar was placed in the building’s lobby. The rock was a gift from the British government and was relevant to the company’s age old motto, “The Prudential Has the Strength of Gibraltar.”
