Perhaps in time for Thanksgiving travelers, Southern Grounds owner Mark Janasik said Aug. 28 that his goal is to open a coffee shop by the third week of November at Jacksonville International Airport.

The city is reviewing a permit application for Auld & White Constructors LLC to renovate about 950 square feet of space in Concourse A for the Jacksonville-based coffee shop, which Janasik will develop in a partnership and licensing agreement with HMS Host.

Pollo Tropical renovations

Pollo Tropical intends to renovate its restaurants at 4863 Gate Parkway and 10989 San Jose Blvd.

The city is reviewing permit applications for Speed Construction Services of Miami to make interior and exterior improvements at a cost of $236,115 each.

Starbucks to Emerson and Philips

Starbucks wants to build a 2,600-square-foot, 74-seat coffee shop and drive-thru on property at Philips Highway and Emerson Street, between the Gate Express Carwash and Dollar Tree.
