Robbie Freitas, former first vice president of the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police, has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in the Allied Veterans of the World gambling and money laundering investigation.
Like dozens of others who have reached deals with prosecutors, Freitas will not serve time in jail. He also will not face fines, according to the agreement made public today in Seminole County.
He and Nelson Cuba, former president of the FOP, were among the 57 people arrested last year in the massive operation.
The two were accused of using shell companies to deposit what authorities called illegal gambling proceeds in an account, then later withdraw them in amounts less than $10,000 to avoid scrutiny from banking officials.
