Gov. Rick Scott brought his “Let’s Keep Florida Moving” campaign tour to Jacksonville on Monday with a visit to the JAX Chamber.
He was promoting the Florida Department of Transportation’s five-year work plan that includes $41 billion in infrastructure improvements to the state’s highways, ports, airports and the aerospace industry.
Projects slated for North Florida include $180 million to add lanes to Interstate 295 from Butler Boulevard to Florida 9B in Duval County and $15.5 million in improvements to Blanding Boulevard from Branan Field Road to Old Jennings Road in Clay County.
Scott said $25 billion will be invested statewide to add lanes, enhance roadways and install safety improvements.
He also cited the state’s investment in Jacksonville’s port at Blount Island Terminal, the intermodal container operation at Dames Point and for the Mile Point improvement.
“The success of our economy and quality of life for families is structured on the foundation of Florida’s roads, airways and ports and we will continue working to make them the best in the nation,” said Scott.
