A second Scooters Coffee drive-thru is identified in public records and confirmed by the company at 13997 Beach Blvd., at northeast Beach Boulevard at Gerona Drive, west of Hodges Boulevard in the Beach Haven area.

One previously was identified to open this summer at 151 Park Ave. in Orange Park, along U.S. 17 south of Interstate 295 next to a new Hampton Inn & Suites.

A Scooter’s representative said in an email April 28 that the company has three planned locations coming to Jacksonville.

The spokesperson said franchisees Kristina and Edward Grimes will operate the Beach Boulevard and a second unidentified location.

The Orange Park location is franchised with Anthony and Rachelle Massacavollo.

Jennifer Redcloud and Dorie Robinson signed a single-unit franchise agreement to open a North Jacksonville location to be determined.

Separately, Franklin Street Real Estate Services Senior Associate Abby Walsh, who represents Scooter’s in its site search, said there are four separate Scooter’s franchisees for portions of Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties.

They anticipate 15 to 16 locations and there is room for more, she said.

Walsh said April 25 at least two more locations should be ready for announcement by early summer, one with the Beach Boulevard franchisee and the other with another franchisee.

The St. Johns River Water Management District received a pre-application for Scooter’s to develop on 1.37 acres at the Beach Boulevard and Gerona Drive. MJ Stokes Consulting LLC is the agent.

Scooter’s sells its beverages from drive-thru kiosks of about 650 square feet. It offers artisan espresso drinks, fruit smoothies and pastries.

Its signature drink is the Caramelicious, an espresso that features caramel sauce, frothy hot milk and whipped cream drizzled with caramel.

It also offers organic hot and iced teas.

Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Scooter’s said in January it has 12 locations in development across Northeast Florida and is expanding.

The closest Scooter’s to Jacksonville is in Gainesville. There is a location in Rockledge near Cocoa Beach and four in the Cape Coral area.

Scooter’s was founded in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles in Bellevue, Nebraska

Scooter’s Coffee said in January that with almost 400 stores in 23 states and commitments to open stores in 30 states, it “is at the dawn of a strategic growth phase across the nation.”

Its goal is to open 1,000 stores by 2024, “and Northeast Florida is an essential part of that strategy.”

Scooter’s Coffee said then it signed more than 300 deals representing more than 1,000 commitments since 2020, including many in Florida.

Scooter’s says that according to the National Coffee Association, the number of people who reported buying coffee at a coffee shop or restaurant has risen 20% since January of 2021.

“The U.S. coffee market is an estimated $48 billion-a-year, recession-resistant industry, and with a 674-foot proven kiosk model, Scooter’s Coffee is striving to become the #1 drive-thru coffee franchise in the nation,” it said.
