Student artwork shines at federal courthouse

More than 40 LaVilla School of the Arts students visited the Bryan Simpson U.S. Courthouse on Friday to present paintings on the theme of “justice” for display in the Jury Assembly Room. The works include a close-up of the Statue of Liberty’s torch, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, an abstract of “Washington Crossing the Delaware” and Rosie the Riveter as a woman of color. The students heard remarks from U.S. District Judges Timothy Corrigan  and Marcia Morales Howard  and were presented with certificates of appreciation.
