The nonprofit that manages The Jacksonville Bar Association said Wednesday it is reorganizing, including naming as its interim executive director Jim Bailey, formerly publisher of the Daily Record.
Attorney Tad Delegal, 2017-18 president of the JBA Board of Directors, said the restructuring is part of a strategic plan that began to be formulated during the term of his predecessor, Geddes Anderson.
“We started looking at what our real needs are and how to better utilize our staff resources and re-direct that staff toward matters that most benefit our membership,” Delegal said.
One of the first changes will be to expand the association’s communications and social media presence. Next steps will include enhancing services to members such as educational and social opportunities, he said.
The first social event of Delegal’s year in office, the recent “Open Bar” event brought together the other voluntary Bar associations in the area and was open to association members and non-members, which is consistent with another of what Delegal called “core values” that will be the organization’s focus as it moves forward.
“We want to grow the membership, be more visible in the community and unite all the voluntary Bars. We feel that we need to be the hub,” Delegal said.
