Downtown is in line for another coffee option, one with a familiar face for those who frequent one of the urban core’s skyscrapers.

Urban Grind, which has a kiosk in the Bank of America tower, has received a permit for the interior build-out at 45 W. Bay Street for what will be a second location. The multiunit building houses Daniel James Salon and formerly Legal Art Works.

“I have been eyeing that space for over three years,” said Stacey Goldberg, Urban Grind owner. “So I am excited. It gives us the opportunity to expand what we want to do.”

Goldberg said the Bay Street operation will have up to four employees per shift and can seat eight within the space, with the likely addition of outside seating at a later time.

The downstairs portion of the building is a little more than 600 square feet, with another 200 square feet or so upstairs that will function for staff.

Her hope is that the second business will be up and serving by the end of the year.

She said the offerings will include an expanded lunch menu of sandwiches and salads and overall, “we’ll be able to do a lot more.”

“This is based on a place I used to visit in New York,” she said of her ideas of the location. “Whenever I travel, I try to go to mom-and-pop shops.”
