Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Chief Development Officer Dennis Harrison and board Chair Ramona Chaplin dedicated the new mural in JALA's waiting room.

It's titled “Equal Justice Under Law,” the motto inscribed on the U.S. Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C.

The mural was painted by local artist Cody Monahan as part of the Downtown ArtRepublic project that has been installing murals on the sides of buildings.

Harrison said the mural was completed for little more than the cost of supplies, about $2,000.

“This area hadn't changed since the 1960s. It was drab and dreary and we have hundreds of clients who come through here,” he said.
