Winners announced for Ted Hires Legacy Awards

Recipients have been chosen for the Ted Hires Legacy Awards, named for Justice Coalition founder Ted Hires. There are three awards that will be presented at tonight’s dinner that was established to become a lasting tribute to Hires and to raise funds to carry on his legacy of assisting innocent victims of violent crime and their families in Northeast Florida.

At the event, three awards will be presented: the Ted Hires Legacy Outstanding Citizen Award, Ted Hires Legacy Business Award and Ted Hires Legacy Government Agency Award.

John and Margaret Rowan were chosen to receive the Citizen Award which recognizes either a victim or survivor of violent crime who has exhibited exceptional perseverance or determination.

J.B. Coxwell will receive the Business Award which recognizes a local business owner outside the victim assistance field for service and contributions to victims of violent crime and for their selfless efforts to reach out to victims and their families.

Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda has been selected for the inaugural Government Agency Award which honors a professional’s exceptional contributions and extraordinary impact on behalf of victims of violent crime.

Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. and Affiliates is the title sponsor for the event. W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, Inc. is a Platinum Sponsor. Other sponsors include Jim Kittrell, The Jacksonville Association of Firefighters Local 122, the Fraternal Order of Police and several other local businesses and organizations.

The Ted Hires Legacy Awards Dinner is tonight starting at 6 p.m. at North Jacksonville Baptist Church located at 8531 N. Main St.
