Work continues toward construction of The Bearded Pig Southern BBQ & Beer Garden in San Marco in a larger space near its existing site.
The city is reviewing plans for a 5,422-square-foot restaurant on 0.69 acres at 1808 Kings Ave. for The Bearded Pig, now at 1224 Kings Ave. A building is being removed from the new site.
The new two-story building will provide 136 seats – 99 indoors, 37 outdoors – with an expected opening in late spring.
The city is reviewing site plans and issued a mobility calculation certificate that shows a fee of $49,867 to mitigate the transportation impact. The Bearded Pig said it will retain its existing space for a future use.
Kingpig LLC, led by Charles Munsey III, bought the 0.71-acre property Oct. 29 for $750,000. The Bearded Pig is owned by Michael Schmidt and Chad Munsey.
