Incoming City Council President Clay Yarborough has made his standing committee appointments for the 2014-15 council year that begins Tuesday.
Like outgoing President Bill Gulliford, Yarborough selected nine members to the Finance Committee.
Doyle Carter will serve as council chaplain during meeting. Ray Holt will serve as the floor leader.
One difference this year is the combination of the Recreation and Community Development Committee with the Public Health and Safety Committee. Former council President Stephen Joost did the same when he served as leader of the 19-member body in 2011-12.
Yarborough said Monday he did so because the two committees average only four or five bills per meeting and they consider similar subjects.
Another difference is Gulliford is serving as a committee chair, which is unusual for an outgoing president. He will lead the Rules Committee.
That sets the number of standing committees at five. They are:
