J.F. Bryan (left) introduced Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens Executive Director Tony Vecchio (middle) on Monday to the Meninak Club of Jacksonville, whose president is Kent Lindsey (right). Bryan, a Meninak member, serves on the Zoo board of directors. Vecchio pledges to “connect kids with the animals” at the North Jacksonville zoo by making the exhibits more accessible and engaging to children. Vecchio said the 2011 special exhibit will be life-size robotic dinosaurs and he wants to raise funds for a tiger exhibit for 2012. Vecchio said he speaks to a lot of school students, fans of “Animal Planet,” who try to “stump the zoo director.” “You guys I’m not too worried about,” he told the 50 Meninak members.
