• Democratic gubernatorial candidate Janet Reno is the speaker the First Coast Tiger Bay Club meeting Thursday at noon at the Radisson. The program is open to the public. Cost is $20. For reservations, call 306-9065.

• The Northeast Florida Women in International Trade is scheduled to meet today at noon at the Adam’s Mark Hotel. Cost is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Van Dyke Walker, director of planning and development for Jacksonville International Airport, is the speaker. For information, call 630-1059. The group has also named its 2002 board of directors. They are Dagmar Tencer, president; Karen Barakat, vice president of communications; Deborah Claytor, treasurer; Kateline Cumins, membership chair; Deborah Lofberg, secretary; Nancy Messer, board member, and Mary Ellen Ludeking and Nancy Olson, OWIT representatives.

• The FCCJ Artist Series will present “Cats” May 10-12 at the T-U Center and “The Vagina Monologues” May 14-19 at the Wilson Center for the Arts. For ticket information, call 632-3373.

• Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. received the Habitat for Humanity regional and national Pioneers in Excellence awards, which recognizes the Habitat affiliate which has significantly contributed to building homes for low income families. HabiJax has been the top builder of Habitat homes in the country since 1996. HabiJax will also celebrate the grand opening of the HabiJax Home Store, a showroom of donated new and first quality used building material, furniture and appliances that are on sale to the public at reduced rates.

• Marc Little Public Relations has promoted Kelvin Lindsey to director of client services and named Pete Thompson account executive.

• The American Red Cross is hosting an adult CPR class Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at its Riverside Avenue office. The will also offer adult, infant and child CPR and first aid from 6-10 p.m. Thursday.

• LaVilla School of the Arts will host an art gallery opening Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. to benefit construction of the Jim Rink Sculpture Garden. Showcase 2002, a student performance in the school’s theater, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

• As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Tree Hill is featuring Step Back in Time, an interactive exhibition about the Taino Indians, the first indigenous people that Columbus encountered on his voyage to the new world. For information, call 724-4646.
