Jon Lasserre, the broker of Curtiss H. Lasserre Real Estate, will soon be following in his father’s footsteps: is father, Curtiss Lasserre, was a founding member and the first president of the Amelia Island/Nassau County Board of REALTORS® in 1980 and Lasserre is the incoming president of the 290-member organization.

He will be installed Jan 14. at a luncheon at Amelia Island Plantation.

“I’ve been involved with the association and its operations for the last four years,” said Lasserre. “I grew up in the real estate business and I saw my father’s involvement in the association, so I’ve always wanted to be involved. Anyone who has a parent involved in real estate is also involved in real estate.”

Lasserre wanted to be president because he wanted to lead the association and saw it as an opportunity for personal growth.

“The outgoing president, Norman Bray (of Amelia Island Plantation,) lead us into a strategic planning operative where we planned our strategic goals and objectives,” said Lasserre. “This year, we will fully implement those goals and plans. Some of the goals were to form a broker’s council and we did that. My plan is to continue it and increase the broker’s participation in the association.

“I also would like to increase educational opportunities to our local and area REALTORS® and increase member involvement and community exposure. I want to show the positive image of our members.”

As the president-elect, Lasserre assisted Bray in creating the strategic plan, attended Florida Association of REALTOR® meetings and leadership training, assisted in planning the association’s budget and stepped in when Bray was unavailable.

“Norman is a great person and a great leader,” said Lasserre. “He has taken the time to share his leadership skills and style with me and gave me insight into how the association operates.”

Lasserre will use his role as president to increase positive communication with the public, increase education opportunities and hopefully implement additional assistance to new members about the local area and market and association.

“I want them to be more familiar with what the association does,” he said.

Lasserre has been a real estate agent for five years and joined his father’s company right out of college. He has a bachelor’s degree in management from Georgia Tech.

“It was an easy decision to come to work with my dad because I was coming home to Amelia Island,” said Lasserre. “I am a fifth generation native to the island. It’s a wonderful place to live and work.”
