If you see Cathy Whatley, her proper title is “Mrs. President.”

The National Association of REALTORS® installed a slate of new officers for 2003 at the conclusion of its convention last month in New Orleans and Whatley was installed as the new president.

Whatley is owner of Buck & Buck Inc., a Jacksonville real estate company started by her grandfather in 1907. In 1998, she served as NAR regional vice president for the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi, as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

A REALTOR® since 1969, she was president of the 60,000-member state association in 1996 and was named the state’s “REALTOR® of the Year” in 1998. She is the only person ever to twice receive the local real estate association’s “REALTOR® of the Year” award, in 1986 and 1998.

Walter McDonald of Riverside, Calif., is the new president-elect and will serve as president in 2004.

Al Mansell of Midvale, Utah, a REALTOR® since 1969, is NAR’s first vice president and Pat G. Kaplan of Portland, Ore., was re-elected to a third year as treasurer.

Steve Hoover of Roanoke, Va., is vice president and liaison to committees, and Michael Schmelzer of Great Neck, N.Y., is vice president and liaison to government affairs.

The new vice president for Region V, which includes Florida, is C.D. “Chip” Boring of Sebring.
