It didn’t take long for Eagle Harbor to establish itself among the area’s residential communities. Only four years from its opening, it won an ENVY Award from the Florida Association of REALTORS for environmental achievements and was named the “Best Planned Community. in North Florida” by the Northeast Florida Planning and Zoning Commission.

The centerpiece of this family-oriented development, which is just south of Orange Park on U.S. 17, is the Superpool, 185,000 gallons of water with a 110-foot winding water slide, one- and three-meter diving boards, a wading pool, competition swim lanes and a beach with a volleyball court.

You see the pool as you enter the community, and soon you’ll see more:

• A clubhouse with fine dining. It overlooks the golf course and includes a full bar and locker rooms.

• A 18-hole championship golf course designed by Clyde Johnston that has hosted many of the area’s biggest tournaments with a well-stocked pro shop and PGA professionals.

• A large golf driving range which is open daily, and where frequent junior clinics are held.

• Year-round organized programs, clinics, camps and activities for all ages led by a full-time recreation director.

• Excellent public schools both on site and nearby.

• Lighted biking and jogging trails.

• Neighborhood playgrounds.

• A 22-acre nature preserve with fishing ponds.

• A waterfront park on Doctor’s Lake with four additional swimming pools, including a heated adults-only pool.

• Boating and fishing on Doctor’s Lake.

• A 12-field soccer complex which is so sophisticated that World Cup teams have trained there.

• A tennis center with 12 Har-Tru courts — 10 are lighted — with a fully stocked pro shop and USPTA pros.

The entire development has the feel of a neighborhood and there are poolside dinners, block parties, summer camps and numerous competitions in golf, tennis and even bridge.

The golf course winds through the community but never comes close to homesites. The southern edge of the course abuts State Road 220, but a large wall maintains privacy. Many holes are lined with trees and water; no homes.

The homes in Eagle Harbor are as diverse as the amenities.

The community is divided into small neighborhoods, each with its own style and character. Bike paths and sidewalks connect neighborhoods and most are surrounded by open wooded space, recreational parks, water or the golf course.

Many homes are on cul-de-sacs, providing quiet privacy.

There are townhomes, patio homes, spacious conventional homes and everything in between. Prices range from $125,000 to $750,000.

A large retail community is nearby including a Super Wal-Mart, a Publix, Home Depot and numerous professional services. Medical services are nearby and the U.S. 17 and Orange Park areas have seen a large influx of excellent restaurants.

Developed by East-West Partners, the community was the first major golf development between Orange Park and Green Cove Springs when it opened. It spurred the growth of the area, which today has numerous hot developments.

The sales staff is headed by Benji Bowman and Eagle Harbor Realty, Inc. is experiencing unprecedented success. Since January, the community has sold 234 new and resale homes for a total dollar volume of $54 million.Last year, the company sold 335 new and resale homes totaling $80.5 million for the entire year.
