Even though Queen’s Harbour has been open since 1988, it is still going strong.

There will be approximately 950 home sites when complete. There are several custom home builders building in the community with products ranging from $400,000 to $2 million.

Residents can choose where they live within the community from the Intracoastal, on a deep water lagoon, along the 18-hole championship golf course or to be surrounded by broad oak trees.

The 24-hour gated community offers a Mark McCumber-designed golf course and a sports complex that offers tennis, swimming, biking, ball fields and a soccer field. Children can walk or bike to it all. There are also facilities for adult aerobic classes, golfing, tennis teams and bridge.

The community is close to day care facilities, schools and a wide variety of shops, restaurants and theaters.

The golf course is of special interest as one hole overlooks the Intracoastal, others work their way through wooded areas and several frame the entrance road. It was one of the first major project by Jacksonville’s McCumber, now a Senior PGA Tour player, and part of his compensation was in building lots.

The big lake near the clubhouse is unique: it’s a fresh water lake which connects to the Intracoastal. How? By a lock which can handle ships up to 100 feet long. The yacht comes up the Intracoastal, is raised by the lock system and motors into the lake.

Queen’s Harbour was developed by Fred Bullard of Clearwater, who many will remember as the owner of the Jacksonville Bulls, a predecessor of the Jaguars. Fittingly, many Jaguars live in Queen’s Harbour.
