My name is Dean Hintz. I’m running as the Libertarian candidate against Don Davis. I read your piece in the Daily Record.

I just wanted to write to you in order to let you know that the correct spelling of my name is Hintz.

Regarding Rep. Davis, he states that he’s been in this community since 1960 and that in all that time, he has never spoken with anyone that has talked with me.

Well, I’ve been here since 1991 and I’ve never spoken with anyone who has ever talked with him, either. And he is a state representative. So we’re even.

Concerning his being worried (or not being worried) about Libertarians and/or my campaign, if he isn’t worried, then he ought to be.

Why? Because I used to be Republican, too, and if you’ve ever attended a Libertarian meeting, then you would find disgruntled Republican after disgruntled Republican.

We get our fair share of disgruntled Democrats, too.

So the way I figure it, if you take all of the disgruntled Republicans, and all of the Democrats (who will probably vote for me if there is no Democrat offered) and all of the Libertarians, you’re looking at a win.

Even if the Democrats do field a candidate, with the dejected Republicans plus the Libertarians, it just might be enough to make the difference between a win and a loss for Rep. Davis.

If I were Rep. Davis, then I wouldn’t be worried either.

I’d be scared witless.

— Dean Hintz

Libertarian candidate for District 18 House seat
