HOW DID YOU GET
INTO LENDING?
“A friend of mine was buying a house and we went into Duval Federal Bank to talk about a loan. I started talking to them and found out that there was a position open as a mortgage originator, so I took the job.” She has stayed with lending for 18 years.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT LENDING?
“The satisfaction that I get from helping people get into their homes.”
BEFORE CURRENT COMPANY?
She was a production manager for SunTrust Bank.
BEFORE LENDING?
Before moving to Jacksonville, she was a branch manager for a commercial bank, Clearwater Federal Bank.
WHERE IS YOUR COMPANY LOCATED?
First South Bank’s main office is located on Gate Parkway; her branch office is located in Mandarin.
CHANGES ON THE HORIZON?
Currently, First South Bank’s parent company is located in Tallahassee, but the bank recently merged with North Carolina-based Branch Bank and Trust (BB&T). The merger will go into effect in November and the company name will most likely change to BB&T.

In her branch, there are two loan officers, two processors and a receptionist.

“We have a total of 14 loan officers spread out over the six offices we have Northeast Florida. They are Roy Epply and Parrillo at the Mandarin office; Yvonne Clinton and Jeanette Ray at the Orange Park office; Brad King and Susan Miller at the Ponte Vedra Beach office; Marshall Gallop, Luke Eckenroth and David Faulk, who is construction vice president at the Deerwood office; Mary Miller and Lori Miller at the Fernandina Beach office; and Mandee McAloon, Sharon Mandt and Donna Jimmerson at the St. Augustine office.”
WHAT MORTGAGE RANGES DO YOU HAVE, IF ANY?
“There is no minimum and the maximum typically goes up to $3 million on residential loans and it could go higher with exceptions.”
HOW DO YOU PROMOTE YOUR COMPANY?
“Through networking with builders and real estate agents. We also offer a finance class through the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors and we do individual sponsorships for meetings and builder events. We also give out promotional items with our name on it. Promotion also comes from our past clients. As they buy homes, they share our name and keep coming back to us over the years.”
