But what does that really mean, how does it work, and can we do it?
As professionals we are perceived as having great skill and/or experience in our particular field. With increased competition we must keep two steps ahead of our peers to preserve our place in the real estate arena. Skill, education and talent will help us achieve that goal. However, with so much competition in our market it is invaluable to have something more. Your choice to join WCR is a step in the right direction. Becoming actively involved in this organization provides each member the opportunity to develop relationships that generate increased potential for new business. As we interact socially we can share ideas that can lead to improved business opportunities. Yet it is by investing in ourselves, attaining designations like ABR, CRB, CRS, GRI, LTG or CIPS that we solidify our foothold. Recently I invested some time in what I strongly feel is a great opportunity for me as a professional. There is now an International Real Estate Council in Jacksonville. The President is Kim Davis of Ponte Vedra Beach Realty, Inc. She is also one of the very few REALTORS® across the U.S. that have the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation. Jacksonville has become a very culturally diverse community. We owe it to ourselves to become more knowledgeable about the various cultures in our community if we expect to benefit from their feverish desire to own property in the U.S.A. It is time we tap into the opportunities that foreign nationals provide, but in order to do so we must first learn how to deal with their unique circumstances.
