The World Golf Village is getting its first resort and spa community.

Located in the King & Bear, the community will be named Laterra and will cover 41 acres.

The centerpiece of the first phase will be the Spa at Laterra, a world-class spa designed by renowned spa architect Robert D. Henry, who is noted for designing Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach with Donald Trump, the Spa at Le Reve for Steve Wynn in Las Vegas and the Bay Club Beach Club and Spa in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.

Laterra will initially offer 72 resort and spa residences in a mix of studios, one-, two- and three bedrooms.

The Jacksonville firm of Rink Reynolds Diamond Fisher Wilson is designing the architecture.

The spa will include a full range of professional services including massage, body and beauty therapies, a health club, a retail boutique and a full-service salon.

The original WGV plans called for a spa to be located in the main area which includes the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Slammer and Squire golf course, but the developer ran into financial problems and the projects never broke ground.
