Library work progressing

After spending several months in the planning stages, work on the new $95 million Main Library is progressing at a good clip. Steel pilings have been driven and much of the infrastructure work is complete. Because the block rises almost 12 feet from Main Street to Laura Street, a great deal of fill dirt is being used. The interior of the library will have several step-ups to accommodate the incline. The library is scheduled to be completed in late 2004.
