Since 1993 Judy Hicks has been helping Jacksonville residents and newcomers buy and sell homes, with only one goal in mind……”To make the residential buyers and selling process, as easy, as fun and as professional as possible”.
There is no better definition for Judy Hicks than passionate. A passionate and experienced professional in the real estate industry, Judy is devoted to helping you buy or sell your home with ease, and in as little time as possible.
And she has the awards to prove it.
The latest is the Laurel Award for being the Realtor of the Year.
Some others:
1993: Rookie of the Year.
1997 and 1998: Realtor of the Year
1998 and 1999: Laurels for Best overall ad campaigns.
2000: NEFBA Associate of the Year.
2001: Dick Baker Award for service to the community.
Judy also maintains an outstanding commitment to her community. As a long time Jacksonville resident, she feels strongly about giving of her time and talents to improve the quality of life for many and improving the odds for kids through her commitment as a board member for daniel, Jacksonville’s oldest child caring agency.
She has earned five national designations:
• ABR - Accredited Buyers Representative
• GRI - Graduate of the Realtor Institute
• CRS - Certified Residential Specialists
• CSA II - Certified Site Agent (new construction)
• e-Pro - Internet Pro
She got into real estate when a career crisis loomed.
Hicks worked for Jacksonville Magazine and when the company experienced some problems with its publisher, she was about to face unemployment. Prudential’s Linda Sherrer recognized something in Hicks and convinced her to earn her license. And so she did, and went to work for Prudential Network Realty, which Sherrer heads.
“Linda looked at me when I was probably at the lowest time in my life, and gave me a chance,” recalls Hicks. “She gave me an opportunity and I am very grateful.”
After spending three and a half years at Prudential, Hicks moved on to Re/Max Real Estate Specialists in Mandarin and continued to experience success in real estate.
“To tell you the truth, I don’t even know how I became successful in this field,” said Hicks. “My husband would probably tell you that it’s because I work so much. In fact, I have cut down my work to five days a week, but I do work very hard for what I have.
“Balance doesn’t necessarily mean spending 50 percent of your time working and 50 percent at home. It’s about enjoying what you’re doing while you’re doing it. When I am at home, that’s what I focus on. My pager is turned off and I don’t take calls any later than 9 p.m. I don’t think about work when I am sitting across from dinner with my husband. It’s a great job, but it’s only a job.”
She credits most of her success to God.
“I firmly believes in tithing 10 percent of what I make to charities and I encourage others to do so,” said Hicks. “Even when I started out and wasn’t making very much money, I always gave 10 percent of my commission checks to an organization in need. And you know what? I always had enough to pay my bills.”
