Coppenbarger Homes has moved in rank from 287 to 259 on the Professional Builder’s 2003 Giant 400 List.

“I can’t express how satisfying it is to be recognized as one of the top national builders,” stated Ron Coppenbarger, president of Coppenbarger Homes, Inc. and winner of this year’s Dick Baker Award for service to the building industry. That’s his second big recent honor — he also was named the Florida Home Builders Association’s 2003 Builder of the Year.

The Giant 400 List rates the nation’s largest builders based on dollar sales, units closed and an individual financial analysis.

“This company’s success and growth have surpassed my hopes, and we continue to grow,” affirmed Coppenbarger.

In places like the anticipated OakLeaf Plantation, the upscale condominium community of Meditierra and the estate community of Ponte Vedra Pointe, Coppenbarger Homes’ growth is evident throughout Jacksonville and its surrounding areas.

His dedication is exemplified by his many contributions to the industry. During Ron’s service as FHBA president in 2001, he pushed the state association to help create the Florida Construction Institute. This organization, of which Ron served as chairman, is used by community colleges around Florida to attract young people into Florida construction trades and provides curriculum and work placement opportunities.

Coppenbarger also earned a Purple Coat Spike, an indication of commitment to the FHBA, and helped develop a relationship between the Association and Governor Jeb Bush.

He also traveled the state to encourage large-volume builders to invest in the FHBA’s governmental and political programs and personally raised $250,000 in the Jacksonville area alone to support pro-housing candidates.

During his time with the NAHB Task Force on Labor Shortages, Coppenbarger played a key role in urging the NAHB to support programs for youths seeking construction careers and to improve benefits for employees. He also served as the driving force in the development of the FHBA’s new Superintendents Training and Professional Designation program, which is now used as a national model by the Home Builders Institute.

He was instrumental in the creation of the “2x4 Campaign” to fund Florida’s schools. This program, which promotes broad-based funding to schools, was honored as the Best Public Relations Program in the nation by the National Association of Home Builders Executive Officers Council.

For nearly two decades, Coppenbarger Homes Inc. has been creating award-winning homes, which feature exceptional architectural design and elegant floor plans. From Amelia Island to the Beaches and throughout St. Johns County, Coppenbarger home sites are always among Jacksonville’s most sought-after locations. Coppenbarger Homes is ranked among the most prestigious local homebuilders, and is one of the nation’s top single family builders.
