Groundbreaking for the new spa/condominium at the World Golf Village was held last month and construction is well underway.
Called Laterra, it is scheduled to open in time for the 2005 Super Bowl.
“We are off to a great start,” said H. Vaughan Blaxter, chairman of the board of Hillman Properties, the community’s developer. “Construction is underway and on schedule. We’re working hard so that Laterra will be ready for residents and guests when the Super Bowl rolls into town.”
Laterra will be a 41-acre luxurious courtyard community of 382 residences. The $20 million first phase sold out soon after release.
The community’s second phase is now being sold. Upon completion of Laterra’s six phases, the total cost of the project will be $129.4 million.
Noted spa architect Robert D. Henry designed the PGA Tour Spa at Laterra which will provide a full range of professional spa services in addition to a health club, retail boutique and a salon. The spa will also provide special golf enhancement services and fitness programs. Membership will be open to Laterra residents and spa services will be available to World Golf Village resort guests and visitors.
The community’s developer, Hillman Properties, Inc. is an affiliate of The Hillman Company, a privately owned diversified investment company headquartered in Pittsburgh. Hillman has been actively involved in the development of most of the residential communities at World Golf Village.
Development is being managed by Head Companies, which has focused its efforts on upscale, master-planned communities and has developed several golf course communities in Alabama and Northwest Florida.
Laterra is located in the King & Bear golf course gated community.
