In the immortal words Clemenza spoke to Rocco in “The Godfather:”

“Leave the gun, take the cannoli.”

The 2003 Mobster’s Ball, the annual “gala” of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, to benefit Builders Care comes up Nov. 7. It’s from 6:30 p.m. -11 p.m. at the Morocco Shrine Auditorium.

Head “wise guy” Jim DelVecchio spoke to all the “families” at the August NEFBA board meeting, and was given “promises” of respect and cooperation.

“Dress in your best gangster formal. This year’s event will be something different and we think lots of fun. Sponsorship opportunities range from ‘The Godfather’ to ‘Friends of the Family’ packages. And as always will a mean silent auction dedicated to Jimmy Hoffa with proceeds going to Builders Care,” said DelVecchio, the event’s chairman.

Anthony’s will cater Italian cuisine and there will be dancing to the big band sounds of the Les DeMerle Orchestra.

This year’s grand prize is an Italian vacation package. Tickets are $100 per person, $1,000 for a table of 10.
