Atlanta developer McRae & Stolz will convert Berkman Plaza’s downtown Jacksonville tower apartments into condominiums.
Having acquired Berkman Plaza from The Harbor Companies in July, the company will reintroduce Berkman Plaza as The Plaza Condominium at Berkman Plaza and Marina.
Coldwell Banker The Condo Store will handle exclusive sales and marketing for the project in conjunction with Coldwell Banker Residential Florida.
“Converting the tower apartments into condominiums is the next logical step for us,” said Will Stolz, principal in McRae & Stolz. “The Berkman tower was architecturally designed in such a way that it easily meets condominium standards. We are excited to offer buyers the opportunity to own a luxury condominium home in a resort-style, yet urban, riverfront setting.”
McRae & Stolz’s acquisition of Berkman Plaza included part of the development’s parking garage as well as the existing swimming pool. The Harbor Companies retains ownership of 20 existing waterfront townhomes, the 52-slip marina and an undeveloped parcel of land adjacent to the property, where a second tower and future waterfront restaurant are planned.
The Plaza Condominium at Berkman Plaza and Marina houses 206 homes on 22 floors, all with river or city views. Residents have 11 floor plans ranging from 770 square feet to 1,800 square feet from which to choose, plus eight exclusive penthouse homes, which span two floors and provide more than 2,280 square feet of living space.
Prices range from the $170s for a one-bedroom design to the $800s.
