Andy Chambers is the new Division President for the Jacksonville Division of Engle Homes.
Prior to accepting the position in Jacksonville, he was a Vice President in the Orlando Division, and ran the operations for one of Orlando’s regional offices.
“I am blessed with inheriting a great group of people. I look forward to working with the group to help make the Jacksonville Division a top performer,” Chambers commented.
Chambers entered the building business following a tour of duty in the U. S. Air Force and then graduating from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
Growing up on Florida’s Space Coast and the growing oceanside community of Indian Harbor Beach, he said he was always interested in the home building business.
“It seemed like a great business to be in, so when I finished college I went looking for a job. I answered an ad in the paper for a construction position with a competitor,” he said.
That was in 1992, and he started as an Assistant Superintendent. He quickly rose to be a Superintendent, then a Project Manager. Chambers joined the Engle Homes team in 1994 and quickly made his mark, rising through the management ranks to his current position in Jacksonville.
He is married and has two sons, ages 2 and 5.
“I guess I owe a lot to Engle Homes. I met my wife, Lisa, through Engle. She was working for a vendor as a sales representative. Actually, the vendor wasn’t very good and I fired them,” he recalled. “I met her after I fired them, and after a year or so went by, the opportunity arose to rehire the vendor. They still weren’t very good and I had to fire them again, but I ended up marrying her.”
His favorite vacation spot is the mountains for snowboarding and skiing - specifically, he likes going to Colorado and Utah. He doesn’t really have a favorite band or musician, but said he appreciates musicians that are “good at what they do and put on a good show.” His favorite meal: “That’s the easiest question, it’s the 12 ounce filet mignon with chateau potatoes and asparagus at Del Frisco’s in Orlando.”
