Industry-specific training for employees of Atlantic Builders/Mattamy Homes is a vital corporate philosophy that contributes significantly to the company’s premier objective of providing the best-built homes in Northeast Florida.
In the past year, Tami MacKinnon, vice president of sales and marketing, has been setting up a number of continuing education programs and attending them with her corporate co-workers and colleagues in the field.
“There is no such thing as the ‘status quo’ at Atlantic Builders/Mattamy Homes,” said MacKinnon. “We continually look to expand the depth of our customer service by advancing the professional horizons of our employees. This is why we are able to attract and keep the best employees in the business.”
Recent training events have included a specialized Spanish language course, geared to building industry terminology, to facilitate precise bi-lingual communication between English-speaking and Spanish-speaking employees. In another event, sales associates participated in “Essential Closing Skills,” a course designed to sharpen the effectiveness of their sales and customer service techniques.
The team has also been coached by an industry professional on the finer points of proper business etiquette. Another event involved a day of safety awareness training for site agents. This was followed by a luncheon at a Japanese steakhouse and a tour of a new Atlantic Builders/Mattamy Homes community and model home.
“All of these programs work together to achieve better business and communications skills,” added MacKinnon. “Our employees enjoy these various training components. They have fun while they learn and appreciate the camaraderie that develops. We will continue to schedule interesting programs that enhance our knowledge of the industry, our customers and the ability to perform better.”
